Fragmentos de um roteiro 1

Outer Space

We see a man sitting on a Brooklyn rooftop. He wears a T-Shirt that reads 'Alter Ego'. He speaks to the camera. We don't know his name, we only know him as The Astronaut. As he tells his little story, we see him blindfolded in the middle of times square, or dressed as an astronaut walking the streets of New York.

The Astronaut:
I heard of this experiment done with astronauts. Actually it wasn't an experiment, it was part of their training. They'd take a guy blindfolded into the middle of this maze, right? And they would spin this guy around a few times and kill all the lights. And the poor guy would have to find his way out in the dark. And eventually, most of them would come out, because human beings have this natural sense of direction - something to do with the magnetism of the earth, or something like that. Anyway, these guys, the ones that would find their way out would be the ones that would get sicker in space. So they got discarded. And the ones picked to be in the missions and fly those magnificent aircrafts, are the ones that would remain lost in the middle of the maze.
Funny thing. This is some story that I never seemed to forget. Maybe I keep it in the back of my mind, telling myself that I'm on a space mission, or something. 'Cause, you know, sometimes I just walk out of the subway and I have no idea where is north, or south; and I have to walk some blocks reading the name of the streets - and thank god most of them are named with numbers. This maze.
